Conditional sentence
BENTUK UMUM :
MAIN CLAUSE + IF CLAUSE
DI MANA :
Main clause selalu mempunyai modal auxiliary
If clause selalu berupa: simple present, simple past, atau past perfect
1. conditional sentences type 1 : true in the present or future
S + MODAL V1 + V1 . . IF + S + V1 ATAU TO BE V1
FACT :
Mengubah kata if dengan on condition that, provided, atau unless
contoh :
conditional : I may study in university if i graduate from senior high school
fact : i may study in university on condition that i graduate from senior high
school
2. conditional sentences type 2 : untrue in the present
S + MODAL V2 + V2 . . IF + S + V2 ATAU TO BE V2
FACT :
1. Ubah kata if menjadi because
2. Ubah tense menjadi simple present dan hilangkan modal
3. Ubah kalimat negatif menjadi positif dan sebaliknya
contoh :
conditional : I might study in university if i graduated from senior high school
fact : I don't study in university because i don't graduate from senior high
school
3. conditional sentences type 3 : untrue in the past
S + MODAL V2 + HAVE + V3 . . IF + S + HAD + V3 ATAU HAD BEEN
FACT :
1. Ubah kata if menjadi because
2. Ubah tense menjadi simple present dan hilangkan modal
3. Ubah kalimat negatif menjadi positif dan sebaliknya
contoh :
conditional : I might have studied in university if i had graduated from senior
high school
fact : I didn't study in university because i didn't graduate from senior high
school
Comparison degree
Comparison Degree atau Tingkat Perbandingan merupakan cara mengungkapkan kalimat
untuk membandingkan sesuatu dengan yang lain. Perhatikan tabel berikut:

Dalam kalimat, simbol smiley () diganti dengan adjektif atau adverb. Perhatikan
contoh kalimat berikut:
Susan is as tall as Fitri.
= Susan setinggi Fitri.
Jakarta is hotter than Bandung.
= Jakarta lebih panas daripada Bandung.
The house is the biggest in our neighborhood.
= Rumah itu paling besar di lingkungan kami.
Lucy is the most beautiful girl in our school.
= Lucy gadis yang paling cantik di sekolahan kami.
Tiger is the most dangerous animal in the world.
= Harimau adalah binatang yang paling berbahaya di dunia.

Who: Menggantikan subjek/manusia
contoh-> That Man who is sitting overthere is my friend.
Which: Menggantikan subjek/objek binatang/benda
contoh-> The two cars which are front of the entrance must be removed
immediately, please.
Whose: Menggantikan kepunyaan
contoh-> Mrs. Stanley whose parents had once lived in the village decided to
live in our village.
Whom: Menggantikan objek/manusia
contoh-> Lea Salonga whom brades loves lives in Phillipine.
That: Bisa menggantikan semua kata ganti
contoh-> The car that I wanted the most has been bought by my husband
1. Positive Statement
a. Dengan Kata Bantu (Auxiliary)
Contoh:
You are the new secretary, aren't you? (bukan are not you?)
George can swim well, can't he?
I am going to go to the cinema with you, aren't I? (bukan amn't I)
Susie has phoned you, hasn't she?
b. Tanpa Kata Bantu (Auxiliary)
contoh
They invited you to their party, didn't they?
She read the novel, didn't she?
She reads the novel, doesn't she?
Somebody knocked at the door, didn't they?
You think I will be fired, don't you?
I believe you will pass the exam, won't you?

Contoh:

2. Negative Statement
Contoh:
There isn't any news, is there?
My parents won't go to Bali with you, will they?
Nobody wants to go with you, do they?
Everybody does not bring their homework, do they?
You never come to her dormitory, do you?
3. Imperative Statement
Contoh:
Sit down, would you?
Let's do it again, shall we?
Don't disturb me, can't you?
4. Ellipsis Question Tag
Nice day, isn't it?
Difficult, aren't they?
Talking about me, aren't you?
